Salisbury's Self-Testing voltage detectors
accomplish this continuously. An extra circuit generates
an electric field that is sensed by the unit the same as
it does when checking for voltage. The detector responds
by flashing the light and sounding the buzzer each time
this occurs. The result is an intermittent flash and beep
whenever the selector switch is set to any voltage position.
No more checking against known voltage
sources, truck ignitions, or separate field generating devices.
You get automatic verification with each use and because
of the flash and beep when the unit is turned on it will
automatically remind the user to it off before storage maximizing
battery life.
